Nuka's Family
Zira
Zira is Nuka's mother, and is quite neglectful of her eldest son, being so wrapped up in her youngest child, Kovu, who was chosen to be king. Zira, however, realized her mistake when she saw her poor Nuka die. She then finally realized what a good, devoted son he was....too late.
Scar
Although he is not seen in Simba's Pride (except the flashbacks) Scar does not seem to have much involvement with his true son in his older years. Why he chose Kovu over Nuka is a mystery, although I have an interesting twist on that particular subject coming soon in the Text Archive.
Vitani
Vitani is Nuka's younger sister, and about a year younger (in lion years) than him. She likes to poke fun at Nuka (although she is deeply saddened when he dies), and is Zira's right hand lioness and is sneaky and conniving even as a young cub. Vitani was the first Outsider to rebel against her mother and join Simba's pride with Kovu.
Kovu
Kovu was chosen by his foster father Scar to be the next king, instead of his older brother Nuka. I would venture to guess that the ages between Kovu and Nuka are about a year and a half, with Vitani about half a year younger than Nuka. The movie doesn't indicate much of a relationship between Kovu and Nuka (or even Vitani!); Kovu only says this in reference to his brother: "It's not his fault, I went off on my own!". The only evidence that he cared for his older brother is that he tried to pull away the fallen logs, before Zira shoved him away to do it herself. Personally, I think the reacton to Zira and Nuka's deaths were actually pretty numb, and they did not show much of a conflict of Kovu choosing between Simba and the Outsiders.
